House TV series Wikipedia

serial house md

Epps and Leonard came to terms with the producers, but Edelstein did not, and in May 2011 it was announced that she would not be returning for the show's eighth season. No longer a world where an idealized doctor has all the answers or a hospital where gurneys race down the hallways, House's focus is on the pharmacological—and the intellectual demands of being a doctor. The trial-and-error of new medicine skillfully expands the show beyond the format of a classic procedural, and at the show's heart, a brilliant but flawed physician is doling out the prescriptions—a fitting symbol for modern medicine. House, an acerbic infectious disease specialist, solves medical puzzles with the help of a team of young diagnosticians. Flawless instincts and unconventional thinking help earn House great respect, despite his brutal honesty and antisocial tendencies. The patient starts feeling better and Masters tells him if he sticks to the right diet and gets checked regularly, he will be fine.

The show is a stealth Sherlock Holmes adaptation

Stacy and House grow close again, but House eventually tells Stacy to go back to Mark, which devastates her. Like all of the hospital's doctors, House is required to treat patients in the facility's walk-in clinic. His grudging fulfillment of this duty, or his creative methods of avoiding it, constitute a recurring subplot, which often serves as the series' comic relief. During clinic duty, House confounds patients with unwelcome observations into their personal lives, eccentric prescriptions, and unorthodox treatments. However, after seeming to be inattentive to their complaints, he regularly impresses them with rapid and accurate diagnoses. Analogies with some of the simple cases in the clinic occasionally inspire insights that help solve the team's case.

In the middle of Season 3, they initiate a sexual relationship that Cameron insists be casual; when Chase declares that he "wants more", Cameron ends the affair. By the end of the season, however, Cameron recognizes that she has romantic feelings for Chase and they begin a serious relationship. After leaving the diagnostic team, they assume different roles at the PPTH, Cameron as a senior attending physician in the emergency room and Chase as a surgeon. They become engaged in the Season 5 episode Saviors (the episode immediately following Kutner's suicide) and are married in the season finale. When Chase rejoins House's team in Season 6, Cameron leaves her husband and the hospital in Teamwork, the season's eighth episode.

Opening sequence

Taub leaves and Dominika asks if there is something they can do about him because he's so unhappy. Masters confronts the patient about his heroin use, but he claims he's been clean for three months, ever since he was clinically dead from an overdose. He tells them he still wants to be a doctor - he had a scholarship to a pre-med program out of high school. Masters calls Chase over - there were thirteen masses in his colon that don't appear to be either tumors or parasites. House takes some Vicodin and when Masters asks him to stop doing it in front of her, he declines.

U.S. television ratings

Throughout Season 7, House and Cuddy try to make their relationship work. Australian actor Jesse Spencer's agent suggested that he audition for the role of Dr. Robert Chase. Spencer believed the program would be similar in style to General Hospital, but changed his mind after reading the scripts. After he was cast, he persuaded the producers to turn the character into an Australian.

Episode list

After this, Foreman hires both Cameron and Chase, but, soon, House comes back, spurring the return of Thirteen and Taub, too. When the dictator ("The Tyrant") dies because of Chase's intentional misunderstanding, Cameron and even Chase decide to leave the PPTH. But, Chase's desire to be part of House's team makes Cameron quit (though she later returns for the episode "Lockdown").

After securing funding for his department in the season eight episode "Risky Business", House brings on former prison doctor Jessica Adams (Odette Annable) and rehires Chase and Taub. The patient's heart is failing and it is likely he will need a transplant. House thinks they are missing something - the patient has gotten worse too fast. The smelling problem lasted for two months and he was admitted as a burn victim. All of sudden, the meal cart comes by an House stops it to look at the patient's meal plan. He realizes the patient has been eating nothing but vegetables since he was admitted. The patient prefers a vegetarian diet, but couldn't have one when he was homeless.

He told Ms. Masters he once snapped and nearly killed his girlfriend and he's afraid that he's as evil as his father was. The patient then complained of dizziness and became unconscious. Edelstein was disappointed at the circumstances, but she swiftly moved on to new opportunities. She told TV Guide that she liked getting to stretch herself artistically and play new kinds of characters after seven years in the same role. For seven seasons, Lisa Edelstein was a major player on House. Dr. Lisa Cuddy was the hospital's administrator and House's love interest in their uniquely tumultuous relationship, making her central to the show's workplace plots and its personal arcs.

When House acts in a great deal of pain when he tries to dismount the device, Cuddy gives in and says she will make an exception, but that he should check first before doing something like that again. However, the next morning, the patient had fled the hospital and the FBI was in his room because of the DNA sample that had been submitted for testing. It appears the patient was wanted in connection with thirteen homicides in ten states where the perpetrator had eaten parts of his victims. Danny was taken to the emergency room of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital where he complained that his burned flesh smelled like liquorice, and the antiseptics like blueberry muffins. Ms. Masters brought the case to Dr. House was intrigued as the dysosmia could indicate anything from an environmental exposure to a degenerative brain disease and took the case.

House's head then fades and the show's title is underlined and has the "M.D." appear next to it, producing the entire logo of the show. This was the full extent of the title sequence in the pilot episode. All subsequent episodes contain a longer sequence including the names of the six featured cast members and creator David Shore. Laurie's name appears first, followed by the names of the five other featured cast members in alphabetical order (Edelstein, Epps, Leonard, Morrison, and Spencer, then Shore). Each U.S. network television season starts in September and ends in late May, which coincides with the completion of May sweeps.

New York Daily News critic David Bianculli applauded the "high caliber of acting and script". The Onion's "A.V. Club" approvingly described it as the "nastiest" black comedy from FOX since 1996's short-lived Profit. New York's John Leonard called the series "medical TV at its most satisfying and basic", while The Boston Globe's Matthew Gilbert appreciated that the show did not sugarcoat the flaws of the characters to assuage viewers' fears about "HMO factories". Variety's Brian Lowry, less impressed, wrote that the show relied on "by-the-numbers storytelling, albeit in a glossy package". Tim Goodman of the San Francisco Chronicle described it as "mediocre" and unoriginal.

Shore told TV Guide, "If he came to me saying, I've been offered an arc on another TV show, I might have said no. But he wanted to do something with his life and I'm not going to stand in his way. I was proud of him for doing that." But that was exactly the effect creator David Shore wanted. He told TV Guide, "You want to be ahead of your audience. If you're shaking things up after the audience has asked you to shake things up, it's probably too late." In 2005, Laurie appeared on the cover of TV Guide as "TV's Sexiest Man".

Patrick Dempsey also auditioned for the part of Chase; he later became known for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy. Omar Epps, who plays Dr. Eric Foreman, was inspired by his earlier portrayal of a troubled intern on the NBC medical drama ER. Jennifer Morrison felt that her audition for the part of Dr. Allison Cameron was a complete disaster. However, before her audition, Singer had watched some of her performances, including on Dawson's Creek, and already wanted to cast her in the role. Morrison left the show when her character was written out in the middle of Season 6.

Main characters

House received largely positive reviews on its debut; the series was considered a bright spot amid Fox's schedule, which at the time was largely filled with reality shows. Season 1 holds a Metacritic score of 75 out of 100, based on 30 reviews, indicating "generally favorable" reviews. Matt Roush of TV Guide said that the program was an "uncommon cure for the common medical drama".

Production team

He finally comes in on a Segway with a very attractive young woman in tow. Martha M. Masters tells him about the patient, who is having problems interpreting smells. House realizes that this symptom can point to a number of conditions and agrees to take the case. He orders an environmental scan, prednisone and an odor test. He also tells Masters that Ferris Bueller is a made up name, and the team is astounded Masters didn't know that. He introduces the woman with him as Dominika and tells them he's marrying her on Friday.

Kal Penn's departure was a game-changer

In the episode "Last Temptation", Masters takes the final choice to leave House's team. After being incarcerated following the events of "Moving On", House is released on probation thanks to Foreman, who has taken Cuddy's place as the Dean of Medicine. House is initially assigned a single team member, Dr. Chi Park (Charlyne Yi).

A significant plot element is House's use of Vicodin to manage pain, caused by an infarction in his quadriceps muscle five years before the show's first season, which also forces him to use a cane. In the first season, 11th episode Detox, House admits he is addicted to Vicodin, but says he does not have a problem because the pills "let me do my job, and they take away my pain". His addiction has led his colleagues, Cuddy and Wilson, to encourage him to go to drug rehabilitation several times. When he has no access to Vicodin or experiences unusually intense pain, he occasionally self-medicates with other narcotic analgesics such as morphine, oxycodone, and methadone. House also frequently drinks liquor when he is not on medical duty, and classifies himself as a "big drinker".

List of House episodes

The producers originally wanted to include an image of a cane and an image of a Vicodin bottle, but Fox objected. Morrison's title card was thus lacking an image; an aerial shot of rowers on Princeton University's Lake Carnegie was finally agreed upon to accompany her name. Spencer's name appears next to an old-fashioned anatomical drawing of a spine.

Recurring characters

Afterward, Dominika confides to House that, although the marriage is one of convenience, she really does like him. His response is that he likes her too, but he does not sleep with married women which leaves her shocked. Meanwhile, House rides a Segway through the hospital with Dominika Petrova (Karolina Wydra), whom he introduces as his fiancée. Confronted by Wilson, House reveals that he is marrying her so she can get her green card; in exchange, she will take care of his specific needs. Anyone else hoping that the serial killer begins stalking the doctors?

Dr. House said although he usually looks for a single unifying disease for all the symptoms, with a homeless person, the odds were better that there were several things wrong with him. Ms. Masters suggested the bleeding may be caused by an obstruction, but Dr. House thought that hypervitaminosis was more likely and easier to treat. He ordered tocopherol and zinc to absorb the extra Vitamin A. Ms. Masters noted that if it was an obstruction, it could get much worse very quickly. After the prednisone had time to work, Dr. Foreman and Ms. Masters came back to do the odor ID test.

Den of Geek points out that it may have contributed to Holmes' own legacy, too. We think that's more than enough to make House an honorary part of the Holmes family tree. But Penn got a chance to work for President Obama's administration, and creator David Shore was willing to bend any planned plotlines to give him that opportunity.

"I wrote this secret rap after I finished my episode on the occasion of Hugh's Emmy nomination, a 'thank you' for having me along for a small part of the ride," he recalled. The show didn't waste that drama — Kutner becomes a symbol of everything haunting House. Without his suicide in season five, the show might never have moved on to House in a psychiatric facility in season six. Years of terrific comedic performances in England had made Hugh Laurie's reputation.

Dr. Foreman and Dr. Taub did the colonoscopy the next morning. They found one of the masses, and they found all thirteen masses were pieces of bone. This pointed to pica, but the patient explained them by saying that a cook at a restaurant offered to give him food if he ate weird things.

As of June 16, 2009, the show has been aired in more than 60 countries, with 86 million viewers worldwide.[13] In the following list, the number in the first column refers to the episode's number within the entire series. The second column indicates the episode's number within that season. "US viewers in millions" refers to the number of Americans in millions who watched the episode live while it was broadcast or by a few hours later with a digital video recorder. For the Season 1 episode Three Stories, David Shore won an Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series Emmy in 2005 and the Humanitas Prize in 2006. Director Greg Yaitanes received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing - Drama Series, for directing House's Head, the first part of Season 4's two-episode finale.

As Masters leaves, he reminds her Danny isn't his real name. The cerebellar ataxia with the other symptoms points to only one diagnosis - early onset Parkinson's disease - progressive and incurable. The patient has received a shave and haircut and now looks rather boyish.

'The Real Love Boat': Who Is the Cruise Director Matt Mitcham?

cruise director on the love boat

The launch of the “The Love Boat” came at a time when the vast majority of cruise ships on the water were former liners that had been converted. Thirty-six years after The Love Boat finale, the ship will once again set sail — but this time, real passengers are searching for romance. During the run of The Love Boat, bartenders used to offer him their favorite drinks in the hopes that he’d use them on the show, so even offset he was enjoying himself. Onset, he was traveling, getting to know colleagues who would become lifelong friends, and locking lips with one of his favorite movie stars. His first romantic screen kiss was with guest star Diahann Carroll, and it took a while before she and the crew caught on to the fact that he was asking for retakes just so he could kiss her again.

Romantic adventures

If you happen not to find what you’re looking for, you can even post a question of your own. The seven-day Canada/New England Love Boat theme cruise aboard the 3,660-guest Enchanted Princess sails roundtrip from New York City and visits Newport, Rhode Island; Boston; Rockland, Maine; Saint John, Canada (for Bay of Fundy); and Halifax, Canada. Onboard 145,000 gross ton Discovery Princess, “Love Boat” cast members Cynthia Lauren Tewes, Bernie Kopell, Fred Grandy, and Ted Lange met “The Real Love Boat” crew on October 22, 2022, for a specially-themed “Love Boat” cruise.

Captain Paolo Arrigo

Whelan went on to appear in numerous other television series, including several soap operas and sitcoms. Not long after The Love Boat came to a close, Whelan appeared in guest roles on several shows, including Martin, Diagnosis Murder, and The Young and the Restless. Some of her more recent appearances have come on series like Criminal Minds and The Bold and the Beautiful.

She started a new career.

He was also a regular (and versatile) visitor to Bewitched, playing a couple of psychiatrists, a warlock, a client of Darrin’s, the witches’ Apothecary, and a German Baron. The character did not receive a farewell on the show as the actress playing her was fired in between seasons. Instead, the character’s absence was explained at the start of the first episode of the eighth season. Klous would remain with the series until the main seasons finished in 1986, with Lauren Tewes returning for a guest episode in 1985. When the TV specials began in 1986 Tewes had returned to the role and Klous was not included. One of the most famous cruise directors in the world wasn’t really a cruise director.

Julie McCoy was a character on the much-loved TV series The Love Boat, a role which made Lauren Tewes almost a household name. Princess Cruises Celebrations Ambassador Jill Whelan (aka Vicki Stubing) will join fellow Love Boat cast members including Bernie Kopell (Doc), Fred Grandy (Gopher), and Ted Lange (Isaac). Ezra Freeman, the bartender from the recently aired The Real Love Boat on CBS reality dating series, will join the cast, along with other surprise guests to be announced. The original cast members meet with the current "The Real Love Boat" hosts and crew onboard the Discovery Princess cruise ship.

“Because the mainstream cruise ships now carry up to 5,000 people and they’re absolutely massive. “To me, the cruise industry is almost a victim of its success,” says Knego, who runs YouTube channel MidShipCinema, which is dedicated to old and new cruise ships. Long-time cruise enthusiast Judi Patterson, who met her husband Andy when he was working on board another cruise ship, P&O’s SS Oriana, was a fan of “The Love Boat,” but says her own cruising experiences were very different to what was portrayed on screen. Off screen, the Island Princess and its sister ship Pacific Princess, the two ships primarily used for filming towards the start of the series, held main stage production shows that became hugely popular with cruising fans. During the 1980s, almost 40 new cruise ships were constructed, including Tropicale, from Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Princess, Princess Cruises’ first purpose-built cruise ship.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT Caribbean Cruises

“The Real Love Boat” dating show is available on the CBS Television Network. Princess Cruises Celebrations Ambassador Jill Whelan, Vicki Stubing, also joined onboard for the memorable occasion as 3,660-guest Discovery Princess begins its round-trip Love Boat-themed cruise to Mexico, stopping in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. “It’s good for the cruise industry,” Spencer Brown said of the series at the time, noting that a reality show was “a pretty radical reinterpretation” from the original show. However, there are various cruise companies that offer smaller ships for those keen for a more Love Boat-style cruising experience. Knego, who has attended previous reunion cruises, says that he’s often struck by the strength of the fan’s love for the show and its stars. Ezra Freeman, the bartender who appeared on short-lived reality show “The Real Love Boat,” which aired on CBS in 2022, will be joining the cast for the cruise, according to a press release issued by Princess Cruises.

(CNN) — From steam-powered ships, to mega-liners, the cruise industry has been through quite a transformation over the years. Participants in the show will experience the ups and downs of romance as they look to find a true love connection while visiting cities including Barcelona, Marseille, Rome, Santorini, and Athens. Bartender Ezra Freeman and Captain Paolo Arrigo will join cruise director Matt onboard The Real Love Boat on CBS. A cruise director is a high-ranking member of a ship who is responsible for planning entertainment and passenger activities. So viewers might see Matt guide the contestants through the challenges and dates in The Real Love Boat.

Judy McCoy was played by actress Patricia Klous, who had made her name in the CBS TV comedy-drama Flying High from 1978 to 1979. The Love Boat cruise director, Julie McCoy, was played by actress Lauren Tewes. Tewes had started getting serious work as an actress in 1974 but it was a guest spot on TV show Starsky & Hutch which got her spotted by Aaron Spelling, the producer of The Love Boat. The Love Boat theme song was composed by Charles Fox to the lyrics by Paul Williams. It was sung by Jack Jones in the opening sequence of the first eight seasons and, in a different arrangement, by Dionne Warwick in the last season and the four specials that followed it. Charo, who had also recorded and commercially released the song, performed it within the show in one of her guest appearances.

‘The Real Love Boat’ announced today three crew members and 12 singles who will join hosts Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell on Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess as it sails through the Mediterranean. And married actors Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell will serve as the hosts of The Real Love Boat. Matt is 36 years old and lives in Vancouver, Canada, although he was born in Great Britain. As per LinkedIn, Matt has been a cruise director with Carnival Cruise Line since 2011. It was called "The Love Boat," but cast members recall that the show's popularity had less to do with love than getting physical.

She admits that the addiction started in the late 1970s, well before she was fired from The Love Boat. She is best known as Lauren though, and when Princess Cruises invited the actress onto a cruise to celebrate her 60th birthday, they made sure to wish “Lauren” a happy birthday on the big screens on the deck of the ship, although her cake was made out to “Julie”. More recently, she was in a 2017 episode of Twin Peaks and in the 2021 movie Potato Dreams of America.

The Love Boat is credited with bringing cruising to the masses and showcasing the romance of the sea, taking Hollywood’s biggest stars to sought-after destinations as story lines always ended on a happy note. Actress Jill Whelan was first cast on The Love Boat at just 11 years old. Her appearances as Captain Stubing's daughter, Vicki, were originally billed as guest roles, but she later became a series regular.

Her final marriage was to Robert Nadir – she married him in 1996 and they stayed together until his death in 2002 of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Tewes has since been interviewed about her addiction where she laments the fact that the tag “former cocaine addict” seems to follow her around, even though she was able to make a return to the show once she had beaten her addiction. Lauren Tewes did develop a drug addiction during her time on The Love Boat, which ultimately led to her being released from the show. She later overcame her addiction, got clean and was able to return to the show. Tewes’ first big break in acting came for a Lipton Ice Tea commercial in 1974, so she had only been seriously acting for three years when she joined The Love Boat.

It is over 60 days and she has not returned 100% to everyone. She is also sending the new terms and tour description to the credit cards instead of the terms and description that was in effect at the time of booking. The date of her terms and tour description she sent to the credit card was Oct, 4, 23. After the port was missed september 8, 23. Sandras cruise tours by Sandra Oleary is not a business I would ever do business with again.

I particularly liked her tour in the Scottish Isles. Journey deep into the Everglades National Park aboard an airboat to witness the beauty and expanse of this protected area, and for the chance to spot the native wildlife. For a bit of pop culture, enjoy a cruise along Biscayne Bay to see mansion after mansion in the luxurious neighborhoods on Palm Island, Hibiscus Island and Star Island.

Business Details

Pay for a dolphin swim and it includes admission for the day to the water park. We booked with them for zipling in PV last year and had great service. I know many people who use them in Cabo with great results as well. This summer we had a port cancelled and I was refunded by Sandra without even requesting.

About the business

I've never done the dolphins because it's usually very crowded. Several years ago on another cruise, some ppl who swam with the dolphins swore by it. We hAVE DONE THE DOLPHIN SWIM AT SEA LIFE PARK IN PV. You can do it all on your own, just grab a cab off the ship and it is 20 minutes away.

When we inquired about our refund we initially were told it would be a couple of weeks and then she changed the terms of service on her website to say it was not refundable. She has submitted falsified documents to our credit card company after we tried to file a chargeback. I won't tell you what to do with your money but this is a person to not be trusted.

She is now stating the tour was always non refundable. This was no where on her web old site on terms and condition or tour description. She then started a new web site and completely changed the tour description to state non refundable. I booked march 3, 23 and have screen shots of her tour description dated march 30th, 23.

Suggested companies are based on people’s browsing tendencies.

We have used Sandras Cruise Tours for Europe on the Pride in 2022, 7 tours. Sandras tours are well organized, many include much more than what you get elsewhere, yet at a fraction of the price. Based on talk on the ship, often we had much better experiences than those who toured with others.

Meanwhile the owner is cruising nonstop and enjoying her casino time.DO NOT USE unless you enjoy paying for a stranger’s vacation. I wish I could rate this company zero stars. This company is dishonest and keeps your money even when she sells the tour as 100% refundable. She changed her website to non-refundable after our ship failed to port due to weather. She offered 50% refund if we agreed to not file a charge back on our credit card. We have everything in writing and screenshots of her terms and conditions and she is still fighting to keep everyone's money.

Therefore, I cannot be held liable by you or your fellow travellers for the services provided, and / or the products offered. Any reference to Sandra OLeary, I, Tour Operators, Guide is understood to include Sandra OLeary. We did Sandra's Santorini and Athens tours on our recent cruise and would highly recommend!

She is telling everyone to file a claim with their travel insurance so she can keep our money. The tours we did get to go on thru her company were very disappointing. Unorganized, not what was advertised, and a waste of money.

Cas Abao provides various amenities to ensure a comfortable day by the shore. The beach offers secure parking, showers, restrooms, and the option to rent a locker for safeguarding your valuables. Mambo Beach, situated on the eastern coast of Curaçao, is a lively shore destination featuring numerous beach clubs, restaurants, and a vibrant shopping boulevard. Each of the dozens of beaches on the island have their own unique personality from powdery white sand beaches and rolling hills to seductive privacy and rocky shorelines. The island has a rich history, much of it focused on plantations and the slave trade. The Kura Hulanda museum explores the dark history of Curacao’s involvement in African slavery in the Caribbean.

Kokomo Beach

Public transportation service includes the ”Buki di Bus” and trolleys. The new Mega Pier has capacity to accommodate largest cruise ships entering Santa Anna Bay. The channel splits the town in two quarters - Otrobanda (west) and Punda (east). Mega Pier is within easy walking distance from downtown - through Renaisaance Mall and Rif Fort. This beach is another hidden gem located around 40 minutes’ drive from the cruise port, south of Kleine Knip.

Caribbean Cruise Ports: Exploring ABC Islands - Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao.

It is a very touristy place, so you should expect higher prices and a lot of crowds. Mathey Wharf is another docking location that consists of four piers. It is located in St Anna Bay and occupies the old wharves of Otrobanda and Punda next to the Queen Juliana Bridge. This terminal is usually used if the Mega Piers 1 and 2 are too busy, and this is where smaller cruise ships normally dock (those that can pass under Queen Juliana Bridge.

There, you will find information and links to all the cruise ships that come to the Curaçao Port, making your search quick and easy for a cruise to Curaçao. The Mega Cruise Terminal offers more amenities than the Mathey Wharf. The ships dock at Santa Anna Bay, a narrow and deep channel that provides safe entry into the port. Walking inland from Koningin Wilhelminapark, along Columbusstraat (Columbus Street), will take you to the Mikvé Israel-Emanuel Synagogue - a unique Jewish Cultural Historical Museum. A bit farther, by the waterfront, the Floating Market is on the northern edge of this area - around 300 meters (900 feet) from the Koningin Wilhelminapark - and a sight not to be missed.

Tug Boat Beach

While it is possible to walk to a beach from the Curaçao Cruise Port, it is not recommended due to the infrastructure and tropical climate. The port is located in Willemstad, making it a convenient starting point for city exploration during your one-day visit from the cruise ship. Obviously, all cruise lines offer many and diverse shore excursions in Curaçao cruise port. Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean offer as many 26 shore excursions. Oceania Cruises organizes 7 shore excursions, and Princess has 24 excursions available. Learn about transportation, top shore excursions, and all you need for an unforgettable visit.

The colorful buildings of Willemstad are hard to miss and its unique characteristics has earned the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the Caribbean’s most colorful city. The unique pontoon bridge opens periodically when a boat or small ship needs to pass through and watching this happen is definitely a sight to see. The Queen Emma Bridge is an iconic landmark not only to the Curaçao cruise port, but to the country as well. Rif Fort is a former seaside fort that has been restored into a waterfront center with stores, bars and restaurants, and some cool views.

Ultimate Beach Day at Playa Cas Abao

It is simply decorated inside and also houses a Fort Church Museum where you can learn about the island’s culture and the history of the Protestant community of Curacao. Less than a 5-minute walk from there you’ll reach the Queen Emma Bridge and the Punda side, where you can explore the main Willemstad highlights and historical landmarks. There is the main bus station as well, however, the buses don’t run regularly and I wouldn’t recommend you use them. Kura Hulanda is a hotel and museum near the city centre that will show you a chapter of the african slave trade and Curacao and the centre of slave trade for the ABC islands.

Hundreds of species of fish can be found in the aquarium of Sea aquarium. Anything you can find in the waters around Curacao is what you will find here as well like crabs, sponges and corals. Nautical charts, ship models and navigation equipment tell the 500 years of maritime history of Curacao.

At the dock you will find an information booth, free wi-fi, taxi stand, tour operators and souvenir shops. You will also find a lot of facilities, cafe’s, restaurants and shops at the Riffort area close to the pier. While the island might not have the most beautiful forests or scenery of the Caribbean, it does have 28 beaches of which some are even in the world’s top 10. Find out which ones we recommend in the Curaçao cruise port guide.

Afterward, you can have lunch at the restaurant on the premises or head over to the sea aquarium beach for a sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling session.
